Ugh, Iran is Right
The outrage over the Mohammad cartoons printed and reprinted throughout Europe prompted the top newspaper in Iran to fire back by publishing Holocaust denial cartoons. They explained it with this quote:
“A serious question for Muslims … is this: ‘does Western free speech allow working on issues like America and Israel’s crimes or an incident like the Holocaust or is this freedom of speech only good for insulting the holy values of divine religions?”‘
Apparently Iran has pwned Europe and proven that Europe’s free speech IS only good for insulting the holy values of divine religions. Austria just sentenced a Holocaust denier to 3 years in jail simply for being a Holocaust denier. So much for claiming the moral high ground. Seriously, being proven a hypocrite by fricken Iran is pretty messed up. Way to go Europe.

If you’re country wants to pass a law against lying then it should be free to do so. Free Speach backfires when its just chauck full of lies and encourages genocide.

Not exactly. The Danish cartoon controversy was totally invented (er, that’s the wrong word). These cartoons existed for months prior to any problem. See the articles: http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/575
Also, there is a difference between denial of historical fact and political cartoons (including very offensive ones). I admit to mixed feelings about laws (in Europe, I would oppose it in the US) criminalizing Holocaust denial, it’s not as simple as you lay it out to be.
